Privacy

What we collect, and why.

The short version: we collect the minimum we need to run the editor, we never sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time. Below is the long version.

Quick summary

  • We collect your email + display name (for sign-in) and the scores you create.
  • The AI tools send what you give them to Google (Gemini) or Anthropic (Claude) to produce the result. In the phone app they ask your permission first.
  • We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.
  • We use Firebase (Google Cloud) to host auth, database, and functions.
  • We use anonymous analytics to understand which features get used.
  • You can delete your account and all your scores at any time.

Who we are

DomiSol is operated by the DomiSol team. Reach us at hello@domisol.app with any privacy question. This policy applies to domisol.app, dash.domisol.app and the DomiSol apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.

What we collect

Account information

When you sign up, with Google, with Apple or with an email and password, we receive your email address and (when available) your display name and avatar URL. These are stored in our Firebase Auth instance and mirrored to a /users/{uid} document in Firestore. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your address, and we then receive only the relay address Apple gives us.

Using the app without an account

The phone and tablet apps can be used without registering. We then hold no email address and no name: the app is given an anonymous identifier, and the scores you write are stored under it. The AI tools, share links and support tickets need an account. If you create one later, the same scores and purchases stay with it. You can delete everything stored under the anonymous identifier from Settings in the app.

Scores you create

Every score you save is stored in our Firestore database under your user id. Scores are private by default. If you publish a score to a public share link, the score's contents and your display name become readable by anyone who has the link.

Feedback you send

When you use the in-app Feedback button, we store your message, category, the page URL you were on, your browser user-agent, the app version, and your email so we can reply.

Analytics

We use PostHog (privacy-focused analytics) to count feature usage in aggregate, how many users opened the AI roadmap, how many scores get exported to PDF, etc. We do not link analytics events to your email or display name.

What we do not collect

  • Your password, only Firebase Auth ever sees it (hashed).
  • Tracking cookies for advertising.

AI tools, and who receives what you send them

DomiSol's AI tools work by sending what you give them to an AI service, which processes it and returns the result. Nothing is sent until you use one of these tools, and the phone and tablet apps ask your permission the first time. You can withdraw it in Settings.

  • Photo or PDF to score. The page you upload is stored under your account and sent to Google (Gemini), which returns the notes it reads. We keep a copy of the page for 7 days so you can compare it with the result, and for 14 days when a page could not be read, so we can find out why. Then it is deleted.
  • Sing or hum to score. The recording is uploaded, sent to Google (Gemini) to be written down as notes, and deleted when that call ends.
  • Tools that work on a score (harmonise, transpose, lyrics, chords, explain and the others). The score you are working on is sent: its notes, lyrics, title and composer. Most go to Google (Gemini).
  • The assistant. What you type and the score you have open are sent to Anthropic (Claude), and the conversation is kept with the score so you can read it again.

Your email address is not sent to either service. Google and Anthropic receive this data as processors acting for us, under terms that require them to protect it at least as this policy does and that do not allow them to use it to train their models.

Where it's stored

Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, and Storage all run on Google Cloud (Firebase) in the nam5 multi-region (United States data centers). The marketing site and the editor front-end are hosted on Cloudflare Pages globally.

Who we share it with

We share data only with infrastructure providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Google (Firebase), auth, database, functions, storage
  • Cloudflare, static hosting, CDN, DDoS protection
  • PostHog, anonymous product analytics
  • Sentry, error reporting (no PII in payloads)
  • Resend, transactional email (welcome, password reset)
  • Google (Gemini API), the AI tools: photo and PDF recognition, hum to score, and the tools that work on a score (see "AI tools" above)
  • Anthropic (Claude API), the in-editor assistant (see "AI tools" above)
  • Apple and Google, sign-in, and purchases made in the phone apps
  • RevenueCat, records of purchases made in the phone apps, tied to your account identifier
  • Polar, payments made on the web

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties for advertising or any other purpose.

How long we keep it

  • Account data + scores: as long as your account exists.
  • Feedback messages: indefinitely (so we can track recurring requests).
  • Anonymous analytics: 12 months by default.
  • Sentry error reports: 30 days.
  • Server logs: 30 days.

Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Access your data, email us and we'll send you an export.
  • Correct your profile, change your name and email in the editor.
  • Delete your account, from the account menu on the web or from Settings in the phone app. It takes effect at once. You can also email hello@domisol.app and we'll do it for you.
  • Export your scores, every score can be saved as PDF; the canonical JSON form is available on request.

If you live in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / CCPA, same email gets the same response.

Cookies

We use one cookie for authentication (the Firebase Auth session) and one localStorage entry to remember whether you've seen the welcome modal. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

Children

DomiSol is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we materially change this policy, we'll email signed-in users at least 14 days before it takes effect. Smaller edits (typos, clarifications) will be updated here without notice with the date stamp at the top.
