Changelog

What's new in DomiSol.

Every meaningful change, dated. The shipping log doubles as our public roadmap rear-view mirror.

  1. v0.5.0-beta

    2026-05 feature
    • Sectional rehearsal (minus-one): mute or solo any voice from the Sounds mixer, mute the part you're learning and sing along with the rest, or solo one section to drill it.
    • Live shared scores: a shared link (and embedded scores) now update in real time as the author edits, open the link on the projector, keep editing on your laptop, and the room sees every change.
    • White-label embeds: the embed snippet has a "hide the DomiSol credit" option for partners who want a clean, branded score on their own site.
    • AI Explain & coach: ask the AI to explain a score in plain language for a student, or to write rehearsal notes for the choir director, tricky spots by measure, dynamics, and a practice plan.
    • AI Dynamics & tempo: let the AI shape your score, expressive dynamics at phrase points and tempo touches like a closing ritardando, applied for you.
    • Public read API: developers and church-software integrators can fetch any published score as JSON (GET /publicApi/v1/scores/{slug}).
    • Tidier toolbar: the AI tab is now organized into Create / Enhance menus instead of a wall of buttons, and articulations moved to a clearer Expression tab.
    • Explore got searchable: filter the community library by title, notation, and AI-generated tags (mood, occasion, style), and one-click Auto-tag your own scores so they're easy to find.
    • Ask AI to find a score: type a request like “a slow 3/4 hymn for communion” in Explore and the AI ranks the closest matches with a reason for each.
    • Style transfer: reimagine any score in another idiom, Yoruba praise, gospel, contemporary worship, plainchant, or your own description.
    • Pronunciation guide: get IPA and an easy phonetic respelling for your lyrics, so a choir can sing confidently in a language they don't speak.
    • Ear training & sight-singing drills: practice melodic dictation (hear a phrase, tap it back) or sight-reading (see it, tap it), scored note-by-note with a streak, leveled from stepwise to leaps.
    • Sounds like yours: when you publish a score, the Share dialog suggests similar pieces already in the community library.
    • Choir of one (beta): sing the melody into your mic and DomiSol sings alto, tenor, and bass underneath in real time, pop on headphones and try it.
    • Voice-cast preview: hear your score sung by a synthesized choir instead of a single voice, pick small ensemble, choir, or full choir.
    • Group composition (beta): two singers each hum a part to the same click and DomiSol stacks them into a duet that lines up bar-for-bar, the last feature on our AI roadmap. Every roadmap item has now shipped.
  2. v0.4.0-beta

    2026-05 feature
    • Articulations: staccato, accent, and fermata, toggle them from the Note toolbar on any selected note.
    • They render above the note in both solfa and jianpu (and carry through to the PDF), and they actually change playback: staccato detaches the note, accent gives it a push, and a fermata holds it before the music moves on.
    • Fermatas work over rests too, for that held breath at the end of a phrase.
    • MIDI export: the Export menu can now save a .mid file. It plays back exactly like the editor (dynamics and articulations included), with one track per voice so SATB opens cleanly in any DAW.
    • Installable app (PWA): add DomiSol to your home screen and the editor shell loads instantly, even offline. Built for a $100 Android on a flaky connection.
    • Repeat signs: mark a repeat start and end from the Layout tab and the ‖: :‖ barlines appear across every voice. Playback and MIDI export honor them, the repeated section actually plays twice, and they print in both the solfa/jianpu and staff PDFs.
    • Explore the community library: the Explore tab now lists every published score. Open one in the read-only viewer to listen, or fork a copy into your own library to remix.
    • Tempo changes within a score: set a new ♩=N from any bar in the Layout tab, it shows above the staff and playback (and MIDI export) speed up or slow down right where you marked it.
    • Embeddable score widget: every public score gets a copy-paste <iframe> snippet (Share → Embed). Drop it on a blog or church website and visitors can read and play the score with no account.
  3. v0.3.0-beta

    2026-05 feature
    • Tier 1 AI co-pilot is LIVE, every feature originally promised on the roadmap (harmonize, transpose, counter-melody, chord suggester) is now in the editor.
    • Auto-harmonize to SATB: drop a melody, get a four-part hymn back, voice-led for real choirs.
    • Smart transposition: re-key with optional voice-leading that keeps tenors out of the basement and sopranos in range.
    • Counter-melody & descant: generate a singable line above or below an existing melody.
    • Chord suggester: get a usable progression for any melody, Roman numerals + chord names.
    • Provider switch: Gemini 2.5 Flash now powers all AI features by default (faster, higher per-minute limits than Anthropic Tier 1). Anthropic remains available via env var.
    • Public share links: publish any score to a read-only `/s/{slug}` URL, paste into WhatsApp, Slack, or email.
    • PostHog + Sentry wired across web, landing, and Cloud Functions for product analytics and error tracking.
  4. v0.2.0-beta

    2026-04 feature
    • Image → DomiSol notation is LIVE, upload a photo or PDF of any score (printed staff, handwritten solfa, jianpu, hymnbook page) and DomiSol returns an editable score.
    • Multi-page PDF support: each page is extracted client-side, sent together to the recognition engine, and merged into one continuous score.
    • Source-type hint selector (auto / staff / solfa / jianpu / hymnbook) for tougher images.
    • Soft daily limit of 5 recognitions per user during beta, generous for testing, sustainable on costs.
    • Vision pipeline runs as a Cloud Function backed by an LLM that understands all three notation systems including handwriting.
  5. v0.1.0-beta

    2026-04 beta
    • Public beta launched, every feature unlocked, free for everyone.
    • Solfa & jianpu native editing with one-click notation toggle.
    • SATB multi-part scoring with active-part editing.
    • Live audio playback (Tone.js, triangle synth, note-by-note highlighting).
    • Lyrics that align under each note with inline editing.
    • PDF export (A4, solfa or jianpu).
    • Auth: Google sign-in + email/password (Firebase Auth).
    • Always-on Feedback button → writes Zod-validated feedback into Firestore.
    • AI roadmap section, Tier 1 (harmonize, transpose, counter-melody, chords) shown as 'Coming soon'.
    • Image → DomiSol notation (OMR), flagged as 'Most requested', upload modal stub shipped.
    • Sub-pages for church choirs, music educators, and jianpu musicians.
    • Local Firebase emulator suite + zero-config local dev (`mise run dev:local`).
